What is a Unit in Sports Betting?

We are often asked what units are relative to sports betting. The following is an explanation of this popular term and some examples in relation to sports betting.

A unit simply put, is a measurement of someones bet. It is a term used by sports handicappers, monitors and amateur handicappers posting with picks used in correspondence to record to show the actual amount of money won or lost relative to their win/loss record.

Someone who is betting $10,000 per bet against the spread in NFL and is up $20,000 on the season isn’t nearly as impressive as someone who bets $10 per bet against the spread and is up $200 on the season. Using units gives us a tool to keep track of profits and losses without the dollar value.

Sports Handicappers release their picks along with a unit, predominately ranging between 1-3 units. The 0.5, 1, and 1.5 unit plays are more of the average plays, while the 2, 2.5, and 3 unit plays are the play where the handicapper feels they have found a lot of value on that specific game, therefore advising a greater percentage of the bankroll.

If a handicapper released a 3 unit play and you had a $1,000 sports betting bankroll you would be risking 3% (3 units) or $30 on the play.

Every weekend Undefeated Sports Picks sends out 5 picks to the consumer. Each of those picks comes with a unit specifying how confident Undefeated Sports Picks is with each pick. If the overall units is a loss for the duration of the package, the consumer will be refunded for the amount spent on that specific package. Undefeated Sports Picks will only advise in the 0.5-3 Unit Range.
